New Zealand vs South Africa Third ODI at Cape Town

SA vs NZ, 3rd ODI, Cape Town: South Africa beat New Zealand by 5 wickets

Herschelle Gibbs hit a majestic century as South Africa cruised to a series-clinching five-wicket win in the third and final one-day international against New Zealand at Newlands on Sunday.
Gibbs made 119 off 101 balls as South Africa chased down New Zealand's 238 for eight with 28 balls to spare. Playing on his home ground, Gibbs raced to fifty off 40 balls and reached his 19th one-day international century in the 21st over off 77 deliveries with 10 fours and six sixes.
New Zealand struggled early in their innings after winning the toss. Fast bowler Dale Steyn, playing in his first match of the series, dismissed both opening batsmen cheaply and New Zealand were 79 for four after 22 overs before Scott Styris (60) and Mathew Sinclair (73) led a recovery.
Styris and Sinclair put on 49 for the fifth wicket. Sinclair then shared stands of 56 with Jacob Oram and 43 with Kyle Mills as the Black Caps reached a competitive total.

SA vs NZ, 2nd ODI, Port Elizabeth: New Zealand beat South Africa by seven wickets

Brendon McCullum and Jamie How pounded the South African bowlers as New Zealand ended a losing streak with an emphatic seven-wicket victory in the second one-day international at St George’s Park Friday.
McCullum (81) and How (76) put on 154 for the second wicket as New Zealand cruised in with 11.2 overs to spare to level the three-match series. The deciding match will be in Cape Town Sunday. New Zealand’s win followed heavy defeats in two Tests and losses in a Twenty20 international and the first one-day international.
SA vs NZ, 2nd ODI, Port Elizabeth: New Zealand 210-3 (38.4 overs) beat South Africa 209-9 (50 overs) by seven wickets

New Zealand vs South Africa First ODI at Durban

SA vs NZ, 1st ODI, Durban: Andre Nel secures last-ball win for South Africa

Andre Nel hit the final ball of the match over cover to give South Africa a dramatic two-wicket win over New Zealand in the first one-day international.
The Proteas required 11 off the final over to reach their target of 249 and the Kiwis looked in control with nine needed from the last three balls. But Nel hit back-to-back boundaries through the covers off Mark Gillespie to draw the scores level and his chip into the off-side off their final ball brought up the single needed for victory. Morne van Wyk was bowled by Kyle Mills before the Proteas had a run on the board.
South Africa struggled to find the gaps and Mills then dismissed Jacques Kallis with a fantastic ball that squared him up and induced a nick to Ross Taylor at slip leaving the hosts struggling on nine for two. The Proteas recovered through Graeme Smith and AB de Villiers who took the score to 100 before Smith was controversially given out by the third umpire.
The South Africa skipper pulled a Scott Styris long-hop to deep mid-wicket where Chris Martin took a safe catch but replays proved inconclusive as to whether the New Zealander had touched the rope as he took the catch. The third umpire gave Martin the benefit of the doubt and Smith was gone for 44. South Africa looked to be cruising to victory until Daniel Vettori took a tremendous catch off his own bowling to remove De Villiers for 87 and make the score 172 for four.
With South Africa under pressure, needing 63 from 48 balls, Jean-Paul Duminy smashed Styris for six over mid-wicket to ease the required run-rate. And Nel ended with figures of three for 46 from 10 overs.
SA vs NZ, 1st ODI, Durban: South Africa 249-8 (50 overs) beat New Zealand 248-6 (50 overs) by two wickets

New Zealand vs South Africa Twenty20

SA vs NZ, Twenty20, Johannesburg: Pollock sets up South African win

Shaun Pollock took three wickets on his return to international cricket as South Africa beat New Zealand by three wickets in a Twenty20 international at the Wanderers Stadium Friday.
Veteran all-rounder Pollock, who was not selected for the Test series against the Black Caps, took three for 28 as New Zealand struggled to 129 for seven in their 20 overs. AB de Villiers hit the only half-century of the match as South Africa made hard work of their reply before tailender Johan Botha hit a boundary off Kyle Mills to seal victory with one ball to spare. De Villiers finished with 52 not out off 45 balls but South Africa got into a tangle against some accurate bowling by New Zealand spinners Daniel Vettori and Jeetan Patel towards the end of the match.
Pollock was quickly into the action after South Africa sent New Zealand in to bat. He took the first two wickets of Brendon McCullum and Jamie How and followed up by dismissing New Zealand captain Vettori in his second spell. McCullum hooked a short ball for six in the third over but then slammed a fierce drive to JP Duminy at cover off the next delivery.
Scott Styris was the only New Zealand top order batsman to prosper, making 30 off 27 balls before being caught at mid-off by South African captain Graeme Smith off fast bowler Dale Steyn, who was selected for his 20-overs international debut after taking 20 wickets in two matches in the Test series. All-rounder Mills gave the New Zealand innings some late sparkle with a hard-hit unbeaten 33 off 24 balls which included two straight sixes off Charl Langeveldt in the last three overs. Jacques Kallis, who was controversially left out of South Africa's team for the World Twenty20 in September, returned to the South African team and opened the batting but made only four before being caught at fine leg.
Left-hander Duminy made a fluent 33 and South Africa seemed on course for an easy win before Duminy was deceived by Vettori and stumped by McCullum. De Villiers survived a dropped catch by Mills at long-off against Vettori when he had five and the lapse proved costly for the tourists. New Zealand were without all-rounder Jacob Oram and fast bowler Chris Martin, recovering from injury and illness respectively, were not included in the New Zealand team. It is hoped both will be fit for a three-match one-day international series starting in Durban Sunday.

New Zealand vs South Africa Second Test

SA vs NZ, 2nd Test, Centurion: Steyn wraps up emphatic series win (SA 2:0)

Dale Steyn ripped through the New Zealand batting line-up to help South Africa win the second Test within three days by an innings and 59 runs at Centurion Park.
The Proteas established a 195-run first-innings advantage earlier in the day and then skittled out the tourists for just 136 with Steyn claiming six for 49 to finish with match figures of 10 for 91 - both personal bests in Test matches. The win gives South Africa a 2-0 series victory after their 358-run triumph in Johannesburg.
The Kiwis' second innings got off to the worst possible start when opener Lou Vincent was harshly adjudged lbw playing across the line to Steyn in the first over after making four, Michael Papps was also trapped in front in Steyn's next over for one. Former skipper Stephen Fleming shared a 60-run stand with Scott Styris to help steady the ship for New Zealand before the latter got an outside edge to AB de Villiers at second slip off Jacques Kallis for 29.
Ross Taylor was then run out for eight following some smart thinking by Hashim Amla at short leg to leave the tourists 78 for four, while Fleming was out shortly after lunch - lbw to Steyn - without adding to his interval score of 54. Brendon McCullum (21) and Mark Gillespie (nought) also fell to Steyn when they edged to the slips and then skipper Daniel Vettori was caught in the covers by De Villiers off Makhaya Ntini for eight as the tourists stuttered onto 136 for eight.
With Black Caps opener Craig Cumming unable to bat after undergoing cheek and jaw surgery, the dismissal of Iain O'Brien without scoring signalled the end of the New Zealand innings in the 35th over. Earlier in the day, Gillespie marked his New Zealand Test debut with a five-wicket haul to reduce the hosts to 383 after they had resumed on 272 for three - a lead of 84.

New Zealand vs South Africa First Test

SA vs NZ, 1st Test, Johannesburg: Steyn seals big win for South Africa (SA 1:0)

Man-of-the-match Dale Steyn picked up another five-wicket haul to lead South Africa to a 358-run victory over New Zealand in the opening Test at the Wanderers.
Resuming play on the fourth day on 57 for three in pursuit of 531, the tourists got off to the worst possible start when Scott Styris was dismissed without adding to his overnight score of 16. The wickets continued to tumble, with Steyn's figures of five for 59 coming hot on the heels of his five for 34 in the first innings.
Styris edged a Steyn delivery to wicketkeeper Mark Boucher, and things continued to go downhill for the Kiwis with Brendon McCullum and Michael Papps also out before lunch. The impressive Steyn picked up his third scalp of the innings when he had McCullum caught at gully by Herschelle Gibbs for 26 and then Papps edged to AB de Villiers at second slip off the bowling of Jacques Kallis for five.
Jacob Oram and Daniel Vettori saw the Black Caps to 148 for six at lunch, but Oram had not added to his interval score of 40 when he chipped a Paul Harris delivery to Andre Nel at deep mid-on. Steyn completed his 10-wicket haul in the match when he had Iain O'Brien caught off bat and pad at short leg by Hashim Amla and Chris Martin bowled between bat and pads - neither managing to trouble the scorers. The injured Shane Bond did not bat, meaning nine wickets were enough to secure a comfortable triumph for South Africa.
The second match in the two-Test series begins at Centurion Park on Friday.
SA vs NZ, 1st Test, Johannesburg (day four): South Africa 226 & 422-3d beat New Zealand 118 & 172 by 358 runs
